Algebra 2
Classroom Goal: To provide each student with the information and confidence to succeed in this and future math courses.
Guidelines for Success: The student should conduct herself/himself in a manner, which exemplifies the terms respect, dignity, honor, responsibility, integrity, and excellence.
Behavioral Expectations:
1. Students will be honest.
2. Students will be respectful.
3. Students will be prepared for class.
4. Students will be seated during instruction.
5. Students will follow all school rules.
Consequences:
1st offense: Verbal Warning
2nd offense: Counsel with Student
3rd offense: Parent Contact
4th offense: At-Risk Referral
5th offense: Administrative Intervention
Tardies will follow campus policy.
Incentives:
1. Verbal Praise
2. Parent Contact
Severity Clause:
Students exhibiting any form of severe behavior that endangers students, violates the law or seriously prevents the teacher from teaching or other students from learning, will be referred to administration. The teacher reserves the right to remove a student without prior consequences depending upon the severity of the situation.
Grading Policy:
All grades will be broken down into three categories: daily work, quizzes/tests, and the six weeks exam.
Daily Work: 50%
Quizzes/Tests/Notebook: 40%
Nine Weeks Exam: 10%
Students may correct a quiz or test (nine weeks exam cannot be corrected) and earn half the points missed back. As an example, a student earns a 60 on a quiz. The student corrects the quiz and earns an 80. Corrections must be done and submitted within a week of the quiz/test being returned.
Tutoring:
Mr. Griffes has tutoring Monday thru Friday in the morning from 7:00 to 8:30, Monday thru Friday after school from 4:00 until 5:00, and Saturday mornings from 8:00 to noon.
